Salley Gardens

一昨日に続いて今日も飲み会でしたので、帰りが遅くなりました。



昨日、もう一曲録音していました。



メロディを思い出しながらリュートで弾いてみました。きちんと楽譜を作っていないので、完成度が低い点はお許し下さい。

"Down By The Salley Gardens"は、アイルランドの古謡ですが、歌詞はアイルランドの詩人William Butler Yeats（1865-1939）がかつて聴いた歌の記憶に基づいて再構成したものだそうです。Wikipediaに経緯が書かれています。

Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her did not agree.

In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;
But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.
